A large government department based in Brisbane's CBD is currently looking for a Business Analyst for an initial 2 1/2 month contract (with strong chance of extension beyond end of financial year) 

Responsibilities include:
  • Facilitate business stakeholder or internal ICT workshops for requirements gathering and/or other business analysis activities as required.
  • Gather and document business and functional requirements to ensure effective business analysis is provided.
  • Elicit and document business rules and complete business process mapping where required.
  • Engage the business stakeholders and users on key business opportunities and development of applicable business cases and/or requirements.
  • Work with business units, project managers and across project teams responsible for IT delivery and services.
Essential Qualifications/Certifications/Skills
The Contractor must have experience in and knowledge of the following:
  • Proven ability to gather and document business and functional requirements that provide a solid foundation for the design and implementation of appropriate solutions.
  • Proven ability in the elicitation of business rules and business process mapping.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business analyst procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the development and implementation of business and functional requirements with a team effectively and collaboratively.
  • Well-developed communication and change management skills, including the ability to analyse business process models, business requirements, and project reports and provide accurate documentation, clear advice and accurate data as required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
The Contractor shall have demonstrated experience in the development or enhancement of information systems in relation to systems integration, application 'look and feel', development, deployment and maintenance of applications. The Contractor shall be highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Project and proficient with office automation tools such as Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook (e-mail). The successful contractor should be a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and results-oriented person with good interpersonal skills.
