An Australian consultancy focused on digital, security and data analytics is expanding their team in Canberra. They are on the lookout for a Cloud Engineer with skills in AWS. The position is a hybrid role with the primary responsibility of building and management of their infrastructure environment.

  • Perm position
  • NV1 security clearance or ability to obtain one.

The Role:
  • Cloud based infrastructure build and maintenance to support the backend workloads
  • Patching and maintenance of systems and application stacks
  • Network design and deployment including policy-based access controls
  • System logging configuration to support operational and security-based visibility


Key Responsibilities:
  • Software - Management and maintenance of company approved software
  • Coding / Scripting - requirements to develop infrastructure as code build and maintenance patterns for cloud environments
  • Hardware - Physical Server / Virtualised system management
  • Operating Systems - Management and maintenance of VMware, Windows and Linux and Mac OS systems
  • Network / VPN - and direct cloud provider access and control configuration
  • Disaster Recovery - Backups of systems
  • Physical Security considerations
  • Mobile Devices - Phones & tablets connectivity and security
  • Customer engagement / Interaction with key government clients. As a primary requirement of this position the role must be filled by an Australian citizen.
  • Design and build of new infrastructure to delivering business critical services. The strategic approach for all virtual systems will be delivered by utilising infrastructure as code practises
  • Preparation and support of equipment used by office-based staff
  • Monitoring of system health (local and remote), capacity and performance management for core services (Mail Systems, Collaborative working platforms, digital build and CI/CD platforms, virtualised infrastructure and access links)
  • Support staff and customers in the resolution of technical faults


Key Requirements:
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Servers
  • Advanced knowledge of Mail Server configuration
  • Advanced knowledge of OpenStack / VMWare hypervisors
  • Medium knowledge of IP Networking and VLAN/switching
  • Medium knowledge of Linux
  • Medium knowledge of Mac OS
  • Must have NV level clearance
