Role
As a Digital Technical Lead, you will thrive on being an enabler to each and every member of the Digital teams while also using your hands-on skills to the max by pushing the technical boundaries in delivering truly amazing Digital experiences.  This role puts 'extra' to the 'ordinary'. 

Daily Tasks 
  • Providing technical and team leadership to an Agile team or teams within Digital.
  • Providing input and expertise into the architecture, design and technical governance of various Digital applications.
  • Working with presales on developing proof-of-concept applications to amaze and delight customers
  • Driving the organisations DNA through leadership and collaboration.
Main Activities:
Stakeholders (15%)
  • Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders, using data to align and validate creative outcomes
  • Build effective relationships with business stakeholders (Sales, Delivery, and Support)
Process (15%)
  • Collaborate with Head of Digital and peers to drive best practices throughout the delivery lifecycle
  • Practice this organizations delivery processes to enable repeatable, consistent delivery and customer experience delivery within the SDLC
Strategy (10%)
  • Work with the Head of Digital to continually refine Digital companies strategy
People (30%)
  • Directing, motivating and mentoring team members and those working in delivery capacities with customers
  • Clarifies roles and responsibilities and works with HR to document position descriptions for all direct reports
  • Coach, motivate and empower team to work towards team KPI's and company objectives
  • Arrange cross-training of roles within team, to ensure operational coverage in times of leave & knowledge gaps remain low
  • Assess and review team processes and progress regularly, ensuring best practice & streamlined processes applies
  • Completes Performance Planning process in timely manner
  • Motivates and recognizes the contribution of direct reports
  • Manages annual leave balances
  • Demonstrates Work Health Safety leadership and compliance
Delivery (30%)
  • Provide technical and team leadership, driving software development best-practice through mentoring and example
  • Maintain team Jira board, ensuring team maintains up-to-date tickets
  • Resolve team member project blockers
  • Work closely with other developers, both internal and external, to deliver high-quality working software on a regular cadence in accordance with company standards and methodologies.
  • Work closely with other developers to continually improve processes and provide internal process automation
  • Participate in the definition and adherence to the organsiations Digital development standards
  • Participate in peer code-reviews
  • Create automated unit-tests
  • Create automated acceptance tests when required
  • Participate in production deployment activities as required
  • Provide mentoring to team members and the wider business as practical
  • Provide analytical and problem-solving support to the development team and the wider business
  • Assist in the production of systems design artefacts such as integration plans, wireframes, process or workflow designs, and functional design documents
  • Produce working prototypes to demonstrate solution efficacy and suitability to developers and stakeholders
  • Work in a hybrid Waterfall/Agile environment
  • Identify development risks and issues as necessary
  • Evaluate tools and technologies with a view to delivering efficient, cost-effective quality solutions.
  • Author and maintain documentation including design, tool use, and development processes, as required.
  • Analyse software requirements and translate these into epics and user stories, as required
  • Undertake assigned integration planning and software build definition tasks.
  • Assist in short or long-term technology planning, making recommendations on technical policies within an overall program.
  • Assist in the preparation of project proposals and with estimations.
Competencies:
Technical (Essential)
  • Sound and in-depth understanding of OOP, functional programming, MVC and design patterns
  • Expertise in API design/delivery using one or more of RESTful, SOAP, or GraphQL interfaces
  • API-first design using SwaggerHub, Restlet, or similar
  • Expertise in responsive web development
  • Expertise in modern front-end web technologies: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript ES5/ES6
  • Expertise in modern web preprocessors: Webpack, SASS
  • Expertise in React
  • Exposure to Angular
  • Expertise in NodeJS
  • Exposure to Java, PHP
  • Proficiency in RDBMS design and use: Postgres, MySQL, or similar
  • Proficiency in schemaless DB design and use: MongoDB, Postgres, or similar

  • Expertise in AWS services including EC2, ECS, EFS, SNS, SQS, RDS

  • Proficiency in agile tools: Jira, Rally, VersionOne
  • Exposure to Agile Development methods

  • Experience with Continuous Delivery using: Jenkins, CircleCI, Octopus, or similar

  • 5+ years of full-stack software development experience
  • 2+ years Agile Scrum Master experience
  • 2+ years Team Lead experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in computer science and/or information technology OR equivalent industry experience
