15 Month Fixed Term Contract
Diverse and innovative organisation
Lead and uplift GIS capability

The Victorian Electoral Commission has a key role in enabling all Victorians to actively participate our democracy.  We do this by providing high quality, accessible and robust administration of Victoria's State and local government elections.

The GIS Team provides the mapping products and services which assist the VEC in its boundary modelling, election planning and the maintenance of the Electoral Register. As the GIS environment transitions from transactional mapping to business partnering and contributing geospatial analysis across the organisation, this will give you the opportunity to significantly shape the future of the VEC's GIS program.

The incumbent GIS Manager has taken an internal secondment for 15 months.  This has left an opening for someone to come in to lead the GIS Team and lead the development of the VEC's GIS strategy and uplift the business capability.

You will be responsible for:
  • Developing and implementing the GIS strategy to enhance delivery of GIS for VEC functions
  • Building the VEC's geospatial capabilities and applications for current and future requirements
  • Providing leadership for a team of 4 and as a member of the Electoral Enrolment Branch leadership team
  • Managing and providing expert advice on  electoral boundary information
  • Overseeing the collection and provision of demographic analytics, data and intelligence across multiple disciplines
You will be an accomplished GIS practitioner with experience in leading high performing teams.   It is important that you can demonstrate successful GIS project or program management experience.

The VEC offers a challenging and rewarding culture that values strong performance and integrity. In return, work/life balance and an ability to make a difference will give you the opportunity to learn, influence and contribute to your future and the VEC.

Applicants should be aware that final selection is subject to satisfactory completion and assessment of a Disclosure of Political Activities form. Further details regarding this requirement can be found at

To discuss this role further, please contact Chris Mackay - Talent International on 9236 7797. Your application should include your current resume outlining your skills, knowledge and capabilities relating to this opportunity. Applications close on 25/03/2018.
