Injury Management and Rehabilitation Coordinator

Primary Purpose
Develop and provide effective and targeted injury and claims management and return to work programs, at the District level, that contributes to the overall achievement of Workforce Safety and Wellbeing (WSW) objectives.


Key Accountabilities
  • Injury management of cases, including return-to-work programs, to achieve positive outcomes for the employee and ensure cost effective management of compensable claims.
  • Provide support, education and advice to managers and staff in different business streams in the District to ensure consistent application of relevant legislation, WSW policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Consult, negotiate and liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve effective outcomes in relation to injury management and return to work of employees for the District.


Key challenges
  • Balancing specific needs of the District with consistent delivery of WSW strategic priorities, policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Managing complex claims in line with WSW claims management initiatives

This role is based in Wollongong and will manage cases across both Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern NSW Districts therefore travel may be required. 

Essential requirements

Qualifications in a relevant field and/ or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience related to claims and injury management
Relevant WorkCover ' return-to-work' certificates or a willingness to complete these.
Knowledge of legislation related to Workers' Compensation 


Experience in NSW public sector is highly desirable but not mandatory.
