Our Client

One of the most geographically diverse of the Victorian Government organisations, the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning brings together Victoria's planning, local government, environment, energy, suburban development, forests, emergency management, climate change and water functions into a single department to strengthen connections between the environment, community, industry and economy.

The Role

The IT Security Advisor is accountable for providing technical advice and support to ensure the integrity and accessibility of DELWP information and data is protected in line with DELWP ICT and Security strategies.

Key responsibilities:
  • Actively contribute to the implementation and maintenance of the DELWP Cyber Security Strategy
  • Provide technical support for penetration tests, security exercises, security access and configuration audits and phishing testing
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners and technology vendors to monitor, detect and report security vulnerabilities, incidents, threats and trends
  • Perform technical and compliance assessments of information security and cyber security controls
  • Contribute to the implementation of security classifications and handling of information

Key Skills:
  • Strong experience working as a Security Advisor/Analyst
  • Highly developed technical skills to monitor, detect and respond to security vulnerabilities, incidents and threats
  • Security certifications will be highly regarded, for Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Tertiary qualification in information security, computer science or related discipline will be highly regarded
  • Previous Government experience would be beneficial
