About the Role

IT Security is responsible for delivering specialist ICT security advice in support of agency activities. This provides advice and guidance on security strategies to manage identified risks and ensure adoption and adherence to standards. Obtains and acts on vulnerability information and conducts security risk assessments, business impact analysis and accreditation on complex information systems. Investigates major breaches of security, and recommends appropriate control improvements.

You will require comprehensive knowledge of ICT security and be willing to challenge yourself in meeting the demands of the role in an ever changing operational environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provision of advice and guidance on security strategies to manage identified risks and ensure adoption and adherence to standards. 
  • Obtaining and acting on vulnerability information and conducts security risk assessments, business impact analysis and accreditation on complex information systems.
  • Supports investigation of major breaches of security, and recommends appropriate control improvements.
  • Identification and monitoring of environmental and market trends and pro-actively assessment of impact on business strategies, benefits and risks.
  • Supports the provision of authoritative advice and guidance on the requirements for security controls in collaboration with experts in other functions e.g. legal, technical support.
 
Skills and Experience
  • Extensive demonstrated experience working in ICT Security within a national security environment
  • Relevant tertiary or comparable qualifications in IT, Systems Engineering or a related field will be highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in the application of Australian Government Security Policy and Risk Management Principles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the application of the Information Security Manual (ISM) and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
  • Experience working in Agile Multidisciplinary development teams is desirable
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, IRAP and SABSA would be highly regarded.
