Talent International are currently looking for junior .Net Developers for an initial 3 month contract with a large government department. This is an excellent opportunity for to gain some additional experience in a government environment currently undertaking some very exciting ICT projects affecting all of QLD government. Multiple positions are available.

The purpose of the role is to provide scientific computing and programming support to priority projects. A key role will be supporting the development and software coding of scientific web, mobile and database applications.

As Scientific Programmer you will:
  • Contribute as a member of a team to the professional delivery of one or more scientific software projects.
  • Be proficient with modern software development technologies including .NET Core and mobile application development. HTML/CSS/javascript (experience with manipulating spatial data files, using Amazon Web Services and Atlassian product suite would be advantageous)
  • Be familiar with and actively participate in contemporary software development life cycle from repository management, test-driven development, continuous integration and automated deployment and backup.
  • Work with scientists to capture and convert scientific approaches and methodologies into software systems.
  • Assist with project planning and management of team projects.
  • Provide support for software demonstration, training and workshop.
Responsibilities:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of contemporary programming and software development relating to decision support software and databases, and the standard practices and procedures relevant to these areas.
  • Understand the team's and the broader group's strategic direction and uses experience and skills in environmental science to support the team in delivering high quality science services
  • Effectively manage agreed priorities, meet deadlines and delivers tasks through to completion.
  • Demonstrates initiative and adequate problem-solving skills when facing complex tasks; actively works on tasks through to completion with professional ethics
  • Prepare technical documents and reports and confidently present the contents in a clear, concise manner.
  • Work as part of a team to provide accurate advice, share knowledge and build positive relationships with other members and clients.
  • Have a Bachelor Degree or above in Engineering/Science/IT (would be considered advantageous).
