Their Australian business growth has generated 6 new opportunities for experienced Mainframe Computer Operators.
 
Role: 
  • Works under minimal supervision in a 24 x 7 environment and operates, monitors and processes production cycles with predetermined deadlines.
  • Troubleshoots, documents, and resolves processing problems in a multiple MVS/JES and Tandem environments.
  • Performs system IPLs and executes scheduled maintenance and changes, and is responsible for bringing interactive regions up/down at scheduled times.
  • Identifies and resolves system problems.
  • Responds to customer questions regarding mainframe services. Prepares or assists in the preparation of change records, problem records, service records and documentation.
  • Interacts with clients to eliminate service problems. Interacts with vendors in problem determination and preventative maintenance.
  • Operates peripheral devices such as printers, bursters, form sealers, paper shredders and tape drives. Ensures the timeliness and quality of product/service being delivered.

Responsibilities include:
  • Providing the first level of problem resolution, customer interaction, and initial point of entry into a site for problems and information. Documents problem calls and escalates problems to appropriate support group.
  • Incident & Work Request Management
  • Monitor systems and identify, manage and resolve any system, batch, on-line, print, tape fail and fix issues as required
  • Timely incident resolution to ensure agreed SLAs are met or exceeded. Raising incidents within the service management toolset for any issue that will impact the availability or reliability of the Mainframe or Tandem systems
  • Participate and support internal initiatives and projects.
  • Change & Configuration Management
  • Create and review Change Requests & attend Client Review Meetings where required
  • Maintain the account's configuration management database with accurate CI information
  • Problem Management
  • End to end management of problems which are assigned to you within agreed timeframes for completion.
  • Quality Management
  • Participate on a 24 x 7 x 365 continuous shift roster
  • 2 x Day Shift 2 x Night Shift 4 days off ( 12 Hour Shifts )

Education and Experience Required:
  • A minimum of intermediate level operational experience in an MVS / JES2 and/or JES3 environment running CICS and at least one of DB2, Adabas or Datacom DB
  • Sound operational knowledge of at least one of Control-M or CA/7 scheduling tools
  • Sound knowledge of system management tools OPSMVS
  • Knowledge of Control-D output management tool
  • The ability to provide level-1 support/problem investigation for failed batch programs and restart for CA-7 & Control-M
  • The ability to provide level-1 support/problem investigation in a VTAM & SNA Communication Network
  • Good understanding of Incident, Change and Problem management principles/methodologies
These are Adelaide (South Australia) based permanent opportunities.
