A government-owned organisation has a requirement for a Network Security Engineer to play an important role in designing, building and maintaining network security infrastructure. The successful candidate will provide high quality technical solutions and resolution to complex problems whilst working as part of a large, multi-year modernisation program of work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist technological expertise for the support and management of systems, products and services
  • Analyse operational methods, policies and practices to develop improvements to make supported systems more fault resistant and fault tolerant
  • Providing engineering advice to develop and integrate improvements to system performance and management processes
  • Provided assistance in requirements analysis, system design, planning and implementation of new systems and revisions of existing systems
  • Investigate and manage the correct of system defects
  • Produce engineering reports, feasibility studies and proposals to determine changes in design, performance or functionality of systems
  • Prepare and review specifications, test plans, procedures, policies and other documentation

Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
  • An understanding of and experience in the support of complex network security infrastructure deployments
  • An understanding of Network Security Gateway infrastructure and architecture
  • Understanding of IT Security principles, i.e. ISM & PSPF
  • Experience in responding to and mitigating security vulnerabilities and exploits
  • Demonstrated experience in systems engineering and change control processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to prepare written technical and non-technical documentation
  • Capacity to work with little direction on technical, operational and administrative matters

It is a requirement of this position that the successful candidate must be an Australian Citizen and either hold, or be eligible to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance.
