Primary purpose of the role
Coordinate and manage the development, integration and maintenance of the Taskforce's compliance with the Department's Work Health & Safety (WHS) policies, processes and obligations, including those applicable to private individuals contracting to the Taskforce for testing services. Manage and implement WHS solutions for the Taskforce to support managers in providing workers with the safest possible working conditions. Manage and coordinate the provision of health service information.
 
Key accountabilities
  • Coordinate the design and development of WHS services
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of key legislative requirements, standards, guidelines and NSW Government policy principles in relation to WHS.
  • Ensure the taskforce is compliant with WHS obligations, policies and procedures, through the implementation of effective auditing processes.
  • Establish, coordinate and manage a framework of community health service provision and information
  • Establish a database of health service providers within identified local Government areas to support general public
  • Provide expert advice to taskforce management on strategic and operational WHS issues and community health service strategies
  • Monitor the work environment, including the health and welfare of staff
  • Implement WHS plans to meet its long term goals in a complex political and industrial environment
  • Coordinate the development, monitoring and analysis of reports, submissions, briefing notes and correspondence relating to WHS reporting requirements within the department and provision of health services to home owners participating in the program
 
Key challenges
  • Delivering innovative solutions to meet the continually changing needs of the taskforce
  • Working effectively with a diverse stakeholder group, internal and external, some of whom will be difficult to engage.
  • Working to deadlines that are often very tight while ensuring quality outcomes are provided with effective consultation in a context of uncertainty and rapidly changing priorities
