About the Role

You will be responsible for maintaining and administering the oracle databases for our client, including AWS Linux Servers and associated technologies that support the organiation's Asset Systems.   

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, administer, maintain and improve all databases on AWS Linux Servers and other servers that support the company's Asset Systems suite.
  • Ensure the availability and performance of all databases meets SLA requirements
  • Ensure server resources allocated to databases are optimised, resilient and performance tuned.
  • Undertake Storage Management including layout of database structures, and managing growth
  • Undertake scheduled health checks and proactively manage, patch and maintain the database systems to ensure secure services with minimum downtime.
  • Investigate & resolve escalated incidents and problems, within agreed timescales, ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed on progress
  • Ensure database backup and recovery procedures are in place, tested and verified as fit for purpose, maintain DR procedures and execute DR test plans
  •  Plan and execute minor &major database upgrades, testing and deployment of upgrades into the production environment
  • Undertake capacity planning to facilitate growth in databases and to devise archive and other data management strategies to speed up data/information processing
  • Perform Resource management including monitoring the health of each environment to ensure that they are not putting undue strain on the host server resources.
  • Provide support for database user account issues 
  • Manage development and test system consistency using database export/import techniques
  • Create scripts to automate Oracle database and Linux server management tasks, and develop and maintain automated alerting of database incidents

Skill & Qualification Requirements
  • Certified Oracle Database Administrator with extensive experience managing Oracle 11 and 12c databases in a complex production environment
  • Significant experience with Oracle Dataguard 
  • Significant experience in managing and administering Linux serversDemonstrated experience in managing internal and external database security
