The Payroll Officer assists the Payroll Co-ordinator to collate information, calculate entitlements and prepare the weekly payroll for all staff to ensure they are paid correctly at the appropriate time. Maintain leave, superannuation, and workers compensation records to ensure entitlements are paid consistent with the Local Government (State) Award and relevant legislation. In the absence of the Payroll Co-ordinator, the Payroll Officer will be expected to undertake the full range of payroll duties.
  • Essential skills and experienceA minimum of three (3) years' experience in payroll administration in a computerised pay system environment. (Essential)
  • Ability to work in a timely and accurate manner, whilst meeting time constraints. (Essential)
  • Ability to interpret and apply industrial awards and employment legislation. (Essential)
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and in a team environment. (Essential)
  • Interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to interact effectively with staff at all levels. (Essential)
  • Demonstrated commitment to OHS and EEO principles. (Essential)
  • Knowledge and use of spreadsheet software applications. (Desirable)
  • Knowledge and use of word processing software. (Desirable)
  • Previous payroll experience in Local Government. (Desirable)
