A large player in the health industry are currently undergoing a large transformation and as a result, have released a PMO Assurance Specialist role. 

Role Purpose and Overview

The Digital and Technology (D&T) Portfolio Management Office (PMO) Assurance Specialist will provide specialist portfolio assurance and governance management expertise to the D&T Team.

In a transformational environment the PMO Assurance Specialist will lead the effort to establish a high performing assurance function and management processes for the D&T Portfolio of Projects.

This role will work with a range of stakeholders throughout and Services Streams and within Digital and Technology. In addition, the role will work closely with panel providers and other ICT vendors to assure delivery of the D&T project portfolio.

It requires a seasoned PMO Assurance Specialist with highly developed portfolio assurance skills, a pragmatic approach and exceptional relationship development and reporting skills.

Success Criteria - Technical Competencies

Qualifications and Experience
  • 3+ years' experience as a PMO Specialist, PMO Consultant or PMO Analyst
  • Demonstrated success establishing and leading a PMO assurance function
  • Strong project gating and audit experience
  • Excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to lead specialised professionals and drive high performance
  • Experience in adapting/evolving PMO assurance to incorporate innovative delivery approaches (lean, agile )
  • Demonstrated ability to apply methodology practically
  • Experience as a Gateway reviewer or as part of a Gateway review team
  • Project / Program / Portfolio / PMO certification (P30, PRINCE2, MSP, MoP, AgilePM, RegPM, PMP, CAPM)
  • Experience with Digital and Technology management and business stakeholders 
Knowledge and Skills
  • In-depth knowledge of best practice for Program Management Offices including project delivery frameworks, processes, methods, tools and techniques, and a pragmatic understanding of the value delivered.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • A core focus on strategic, performance and business value perspectives.
  • Strong problem formulation and solution shaping capabilities
  • Facilitation skills and an ability to achieve consensus
  • Process consulting skills
  • Knowledge of outsourcing approaches and how this can influence project delivery outcomes
