A Policy Officer is required to the digital strategy section of a government department on a contract basis. As the policy officer you will assist them in providing a roadmap for government to work with the private sector to create a digital economy.
The Role and responsibilities:
  • Engaging with key private sector and government stakeholders regarding opportunities and challenges from the digital economy.
  • Developing and influencing policy on key themes such as SME digitisation, cyber security, digital infrastructure (connectivity) and data use and availability.
  • Providing policy advice on emerging and cross-cutting digital policy issues such as the implications of Industry 4.0, automation, and artificial intelligence.
  • Undertaking research and analysis of domestic and international digital economy literature.
  • Working collaboratively with other APS agencies with involvement in digital economy policy issues.
  • The successful candidate could work across all these areas, or specialise in a few, depending on their skills and experience.
The successful candidate will have:
  • 5 years' experience in a policy role.
  • A tertiary degree in policy, economics, science, business or similar disciplines.
  • Strong policy development skills and capability
  • The ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experienced in stakeholder engagement/management.
  • An understanding of user-centred design systems and approaches.
  • A Baseline security clearance
