Role scope

Lead the development and application of a systematic management framework to analyse and deliver a portfolio of programs and projects in support of specific business strategies and objectives.

Principal responsibilities of this role
  • Support senior management in the definition of a portfolio of change and the associated roadmap including the planning, scheduling, governance, monitoring and reporting on portfolio related activities and the realisation of benefits.
  • Lead the planning and conduct audits and assurance activities of portfolio, program and project management quality requirements. Discuss findings with key project and program stakeholders and executives. Analyse, report and track the results including associated recommendations.
  • Identify issues and/or opportunities with portfolio structure, cost, risk, inter-dependencies, impact on current business activities and the strategic benefits to be realised. Report on portfolio status including confirming the continuing business viability of initiatives within the portfolio against what was predicted in the business case
  • Support program and project managers by providing advice, coaching and training on the development of business cases and other program and project documentation, including the identification of specific measures and mechanisms by which benefits can be measured.
  • Engage and influence senior managers to ensure the portfolio will deliver the agreed business objectives. Notify programs / projects / change initiatives of issues and recommend and monitor corrective action.
  •  Plan and conduct audits and other assurance activities of portfolio, program and project management quality requirements. Analyse and report on the results including associated recommendations.
  • Ensure that program and project leads adhere to the agreed portfolio, program and project management approach, timetable, quality and stage decision points, and that they provide the appropriate information to agreed targets of timelines and quality.
  • Ensure that projects and programs are managed to realise business benefits with the use of appropriate frameworks including benefits and organisational change management.
  • Support the development and management of the implementation and maintenance of integrated toolsets (best practice frameworks, methods, procedures, processes and other tools) to maximise portfolio, program and project planning, management, performance and delivery.
  • Lead the review of the portfolio performance and lessons learned and the application of systemic and lasting changes to portfolio practice
