Primary Purpose of the role
Plan, coordinate and manage projects of a single or multi-disciplined nature. Accountable for delivery of project outcomes in line with the Major Works Division's annual program of work. Management of project scope, cost, schedule, risk, quality, communications and change controls. Responsible for using high maturity project management practices and sharing knowledge across project teams.
Key Accountabilities
  • Execute safety responsibilities, authorities and accountabilities consistent with Organisational safety management system requirements
  • Leverage Major Works Division's quality assurance processes, policies and procedures to maintain visibility of and direct quality assurance across their projects. Conduct regular check and audits on project delivery quality outcomes with Works Managers/Site Managers where appropriate.
  • Undertake Risk Analysis for projects in order to manage safety and commercial risks to facilitate decision making and risk mitigation for projects.
  • Collaborate with Program Planning Office to ensure clarity of initial scope and plans.
  • Manage single or multiple projects to deliver outcomes for stakeholders in terms of safety, scope, quality, standards, budget, timeframes and customer expectations.
  • Facilitate on site scoping and estimating for projects.
  • Commercial Services and seeking feedback from Project Engineers and other team members.
  • Track and report on project delivery against project performance objectives and benefits realisation.
Selection Criteria
  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and delivering single or multi-discipline projects, in a complex engineering and operational environment (e.g. rail or construction)
  • Well-developed communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and relationship building skills, with the ability to develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, including ability to negotiate and manage conflict
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and experience in contract administration and working effectively with external partners / vendors to ensure they deliver to contract and required standards
  • Demonstrated experience in Project Management Methodologies (e.g. 'PMBok' or 'PRINCE' principals) and project management tools (e.g. Primavera) and project reporting
  • Demonstrated experience in applying project governance processes, including project change control processes.
