We are currently looking for a Reports Analyst for a large government department based in Brisbane CBD. This is a 6 month contract with a good chance of further extensions. 

The project:
The work area currently uses the Oracle Discoverer product to provide the business with ad-hoc and regular operational and strategic reports and analytics on the above customer interactions, their progress and other regulatory functions related to these obligations.  As part of a sustainability initiative, the department is seeking to replace the use of Oracle Discoverer with Microsoft Power BI and Azure services.

Responsibilities:
  • Review existing Oracle Discoverer reports and analytics
  • Develop and negotiate a schedule for designing and developing the required reports and analytics, incorporating business priorities
  • Build new Microsoft Power BI reports and dashboards to replace existing Oracle Discoverer reports and analytics, as per agreed schedule
  • Work with the business experts to test and validate new reports and analytics
  • Work with business subject matter experts to identify and recommend optimisation and consolidation opportunities
  • Provide guidance, training and skills transfer to key Council business and functional support staff so that they can take over report creation and maintenance into the future.
Requirements::
  • Determining reporting requirements
  • Designing reports and dashboards
  • Developing semantic models to support self-service reporting and analytics
  • Microsoft Power BI and Azure Data and Analytics Services
  • Possess experience within an ICT Project environment including demonstrated experience in: Impact analysis, Stakeholder Management, Training and Performance Support and Business Readiness
  • Possess high-level communication skills including the ability to
  • Provide effective communication to staff
  • Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings and training sessions if required
  • Present complex subject matter to senior management and critical stakeholders
  •   Have a broad understanding of ICT project approaches and methods, including familiarity with ICT project deliverables such as process designs, user requirements documents, technical and application design documents, configuration documents, test strategies and plans, defect and issue management logs and so on.
  • Familiarity with typical ICT project roles and activities.
  • Be proficient in the use of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Project.
