Senior Business Planning and Portfolio Analyst

Primary Purpose
The role involves business planning, portfolio prioritisation, business impact and financial analysis, options analysis and executive reporting.
Key Accountabilities
  • Support the Business Planning and Performance Manager in achieving the team's deliverables.
  • Provide strategic decision-making and business and portfolio planning support to through policy, customer, operational and financial analysis.
  • Support achievement of team deliverables through organising meetings/workshops as necessary, developing options papers, reports and presentations, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist the Director Planning and Development in planning, prioritising and scheduling of portfolio pipeline.

Essential requirements
  • Experience in Government organisations,
  • Experience with Ministerial Correspondence and drafting of government documents such as Briefing Notes, House Folder Notes, Parliamentary Question responses.
  • Experience in business and portfolio planning.
  • Stakeholder management across multiple organisations, particularly in the context of organisational change.
  • Identification, development and documentation of business policies.
  • Data modelling including financial and or cost / benefits analysis.
  • Strategic decision support through policy, business impact and financial analysis.
  • Effective business documentation, such as reports, briefings, presentations and options papers.
  • Effective verbal communications skills, particularly in the context of stakeholder engagement and consultation, with the ability to convey complex concepts succinctly.
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing effective business documentation, such as reports, briefings, presentations and options papers, together with the ability to verbally communicate the key ideas presented in the documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills--both qualitative and quantitative--with the ability to assimilate information quickly, and present findings in a concise and meaningful way.
Experience in NSW public sector is highly desirable but not mandatory.
