Senior Systems Officer - Parramatta location
Initial 6 months contract with a strong view to extend
Full time role with flexible work hours - Weekend work and overtimea applicable per business requirements
Pay rate: $542 - $764 excluding Super
Work in a team that supports all the Microsoft and Novell servers platforms utilized State Wide.  As part of the team, the Senior Systems Officer will play a key part in the support of the state-wide environment, ensuring the smooth operation of Wintel environment with emphasis on customer satisfaction, process improvement, patch management and migration project support. The responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to, Incident Management, Server Administration, Event Management, Reporting and Classification as well as Project support.

Key Accountabilities
The position of Senior Systems Officer is responsible for:
  • Ensuring the delivery of IT services to this government agency's customers' meets agreed service levels.
  • Ensuring operating system and application versions are maintained to maximise system reliability and availability.
  • Performance  monitoring  and  system  tuning  to  maximise  system  performance  and  ensuring  technical best practises are adhered.
  • Recording and resolution of technical and customer issues involving Directory & Messaging Services infrastructure.
  • Investigation and testing of new technologies that could be of benefit to ICT Programs, and its future user base.
  • Providing technical guidance and an escalation point to existing LHD and Service Desk personnel for Directory & Messaging service related issues and queries.
  • Assisting other  members  of  in  the  resolution  of  complex  IT  related  problems  that  are either impacting the state-wide services or that the state-wide services may impact on.
  • Providing support as required or directed to other NSW Health centres or teams.
  • Assisting  in  the  preparation  of  reports  that  document  the  various  performance  characteristics  of  the information technology service delivery that relate to technical issues.
  • Providing  advice and  recommendation to ICT  programs and IS  teams on  opportunities  for  service improvement
  • Adhering   to   established   standards,   processes   and   procedures   for   system   implementation   and management.
  • Plan,  build  and  operate  the  server  environment  and  their  associated  Operating  System  software, including delegated operations of Active Directory and alerting and monitoring tools.
  • Participate  in the  design  and  implementation  of server infrastructure and architecture and services to fully  support  the  eHealth  NSW  business  and  service  delivery  environments  across  all  environments serviced by the eHealth NSW organisation.
  • Participate in ensuring the viability of the Disaster Recovery Plan in conjunction with other members of the NSW team, assist with the investigation and testing of new technologies that could be of benefit to eHealth NSW and its broad customer base.
 Key Challenges
  • Providing support and integration for the ongoing project streams to ensure operational standards are not impacted
  • Satisfying the needs and operational requirements of many stakeholders while ensuring the integrity of the Distributed Systems environments
  • Prioritising and maintaining technology standards whilst leading day to-day operations and participating in ICT program engagements
