A large government department is currently seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a background in Linux/Red Hat to join their team in a contract role.

Role and responsibilities:
  •  Under broad direction take responsibility for investigative work to determine requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, data management, practices, procedures, organisation and equipment;
  • Under broad direction, conduct Analysis, Detection and Response (ADR) on the SIE;
  • Under broad direction, manage the ICTSO Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) Product including configuration, improvement, support and development;
  • Under broad direction conduct IT Security management, maintenance and service delivery across the SIE and ICTSO systems: 
  • IDS & SIEM server and appliance management and maintenance.
  • Bespoke intrusion signature development.
  • Applying patches and updates.
  • Archiving alerts, log data and network traffic capture.
  • Hardware, cabling and system fault finding.
  • Linux scripting to automate system management and incident analysis.
  • Familiarity with a range of open source and commercial IDS;
  • Provide guidance and investigation into new techniques, procedures and products that may be usefully employed to enhance the Analysis, Detection and Response (ADR) and ICTSO environments
  • Under broad direction, investigate complex technical problems, and engage others to assist in addressing such problems; and
  • Provision of knowledge transfer to CIOG staff, relevant to the service provider's subject matter expertise.
The successful candidate must HOLD a current security clearance; therefore, applicants will be required to be Australian citizens.
