SQL Database Administrator

Experienced SQL Database Administrator required for an initial 3 month contract role based in Perth working in a small team.

The Database Administrator will provide the technical day-to-day operating system, database and web server administration of the client's wide variety of networked systems and applications. 

Role Responsibilities
  • Undertaking technical troubleshooting and job queue management of service related infrastructure.
  • Ensuring the day to day operation of the computing facilities are optimal including backup administration.
  • Ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures in respect to user access to corporate and clinical information systems.
  • Undertaking and providing technical guidance in the development of system contingency and disaster recovery plans in relation to the corporate computer environment.
  • Adhering to change management procedures.
  • Undertaking capacity planning activities.
  • Maintaining technical interfaces that link application software systems across disparate computer platforms.
  • Evaluating emerging information technologies and provide advice on how they may be utilised in the implementation of the Information Management Plan.
  • Maintaining a high level of awareness of developments and trends in information technology especially in respect to the health care environment.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Planning, implementation and maintenance of Microsoft SQL 2016 databases.
  • SQL 2016 Column store indexes experience
  • Query optimisation especially in Data Warehouse environments
  • Extensive skills in ICT troubleshooting and fault finding.
  • Planning, implementation and maintenance of virtualisation platforms
  • In-depth knowledge of network computing environments, topologies, protocols, hardware and software.
  • Organisational, planning and time management skills.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to liaise and consult with a range of stakeholders.
