The position is primarily responsible for providing support, administration, problem investigation and maintenance of the desktop Standard operating environment (SOE) using SCCM. This role will also provide 3rd level support to our Citrix desktop platform. Additionally, this role will also assist in the training of the Associate Engineers providing support, encouragement and guidance in achieving goals.
You will be responsible for
  • Maintain the Desktop operating environment (SOE) & Citrix platform.
  • Ownership of the SCCM environment
  • Participate in minor works or projects according to the ICT Project Management Methodology.
  • Respond to escalations from other ICT team members and investigating incidents from the System Administrator job queue
  • Produce quality documentation and reports as required. 
  • Assess and report on infrastructure risks
  • Report on unscheduled outages and provide incident reports
  • Install patches or upgrades to Windows based applications.
  • Establish best practices and maintain technical documentation/knowledge base, including contributing to continuous system improvement actions.
  • Assist in the training of Associate Engineers
  • Collaborate with project delivery teams in the implementation of new solutions and provide technical advice
  • Occasional travel to other sites may be required
  • Participate in the on call roster if required
  • Other tasks as required by the ServiceDesk & Citrix team lead.

Experience and knowledge
  • 3+ years' experience in 3rd level Windows server support team in a medium to large organization.
  • Strong skills in using SCCM to manage a desktop PC fleet including Operating system deployment, tasks sequence support, software deployment & Endpoint protection.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with as many of the following:-  
    • Citrix Xenapp
    • Citrix XenDesktop
    • Citrix Netscalers
    • Citrix Provisioning services
    • Microsoft System Centre Configuration Manager (SCCM)
    • Windows Server
    • System Center suite e.g. SCCM, SCSM, SCOM
    • Active Directory
    • Hypervisor's e.g. VMWare, XenServer
    • Virus Protection Network principles
    • Powershell
    • Microsoft Certificate Services/PKI
    • ivanti management suite (Appsense)
  • Advanced knowledge of information security principles on Windows servers, Windows based applications and the mechanism for configuring systems in line with policies. This includes patch management using SCCM.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving abilities for identifying, defining and solving technical and operational problems.
  • Strong communication skills (non-verbal, verbal and written) with demonstrated ability to effectively  communicate at all levels of the organization
  • Strong interpretative skills demonstrated by the ability to simply explain and progress ideas and solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to create strong internal and external working relationships.
  • Demonstrated experience working in project teams and successfully delivering objectives on time and on budget
