Our client is a federal government agency based in the Melbourne CBD. Due to growth, they require a User Researcher for a 12 month+ contract to work closely with the product manager and designers to be responsible for building a deep understanding of the users and their behaviour and providing insight to the team and out how users interact with products and services.

You will take the lead on planning research, running sessions with real users, and communicating findings back to the whole team, crediting actionable insight to guide work. This role has a variety and will be a valued member of this national team.

To apply for this role you will need the following skills and experience:
  • Significant hands-on experience in user research as part of the design and delivery of user-centred services
  • Have the ability to identify user needs and ensure that your team understand them and keeps user needs in front of mind when making product and prioritisation decisions.
  • Experience in planning and conducting a range of research methods including contextual inquiry, depth interviews, diary studies, and others as required
  • An ability to articulate clear and actionable insights and recommendations, and in multiple ways (such as journey maps, showcased, presentations, etc.)
  • Experience in agile and working at pace as part of an agile multi-disciplinary team.
  • Previous experience in government departments and an understanding of Commonwealth Digital Services Standards would be highly regarded.
  • Have Baseline Security Clearance or be eligible (be an Australian Citizen).
